Quality assurance
Jul 15, 2010
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country.
There are many private higher education institutions existing in India who have to obtain accreditation from UGC before they get established. In order to determine the quality of any private or public institutions in India one should look to see if they have been recognized by any one of the statutory professional councils set up by UGC.
The Councils are:
- All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
- Distance Education Council (DEC)
- Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR)
- Bar Council of India (BCI)
- National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)
- Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)
- Medical Council of India (MCI)
- Pharmacy Council of India (PCI)
- Indian Nursing Council (INC)
- Dentist Council of India (DCI)
- Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH)
- Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
In order to provide relevant and quality education with enhanced access the UGC has launched a program UGC-INFONET, a network of Indian Universities and Colleges. The network is run by Inflibnet Centre India in which 153 universities are connected electronically. It also has a database of recognized universities, which is a total of 269. Please visit the Inflibnet website.
Thus you may find all details of the institutions and make your selection. If you require any further guidance you may contact Neso Desk India.
