It has been a decade long ethos in the history of this institute, exhibiting engineering grandeur in an intellectual carnival people with visionaries, academia and industrialists. Shaastra has the distinction of being the first student-organized event in the world, to be ISO 9001:2000 certified, for its impeccable planning, innovation and execution. The competitions at Shaastra boast of having the highest number of outstation participants, for any festival of its kind in India, from India as well as abroad. Over the years, Shaastra has received accolades and appreciation from the industry, academia and media alike.

Shaastra 2009 marks a significant shift in Shaastra philosophy. Shaastra 2009 aims to tackle the issues of Sustainable Development in the most holistic way possible. Heralding bold new initiatives like the Shaastra Symposium, Start-Up City, to name a few, Shaastra aims to evolve into a technical festival which involves everyone; be it budding engineers, young entrepreneurs, future policy makers or even technocrats. Shaastra 2009 promises to be better, more inclusive and more relevant to the problems society faces than ever before.
