Diwali Celebrations in Maastricht

The students at University of Maastricht had an encounter with Indian Culture, when the University held a get-together for its students during the Indian festival of Diwali. This was an initiative by the University to give the ever growing Indian students population a feeling of “Being Home, Away from Home”!
All their international friends were also invited to enjoy the Indian festive season together.
They
celebrated the festival in a traditional style with Indian food. They
made rangoli’s (color patterns) out of cinnamon, curry and paprika and
placed diya’s (candles) which created an ambience of color and light. A
spontaneous dance performance by one their students was the highlight of
the occasion!
Maastricht University wishes to offer its Indian
students a consistent social agenda. They are supporting the Indian
Students’ Association Maastricht (ISAM), an organization with a twofold
mission: to bring India to Maastricht and Maastricht to India!
