IBR project India

18 Apr 2011

The University of Groningen, the Netherlands, will be in India for 5 weeks to conduct field research for 11 Dutch companies, with 25 students.

Every year, IBR (International Business Research) is organized to conduct research in different countries all over the world. Past experience has taught them that the quality of the researches can only be enhanced by attracting local knowledge to the research. Therefore, this year IBR has the focus to set up a Buddy Project in order to combine the knowledge of Dutch students about the companies for which they will conduct research, with the knowledge of Indian students about culture, language, sectors, companies, and ways of doing business.
The “Buddy System “is organised with the aim of linking the Dutch student pairs with Indian students. The idea of the project is that Indian students assist them in conducting the research.

The Indian students can help by functioning as:
- interpreters
- translators
- help finding and processing information
- making contacts with businesses and arranging appointments by telephone,
- accompanying the Dutch students during interviews.

They are offering the Indian students:
- valuable contacts within local companies
- International research experience
- Interview experience
- Acknowledgement in the final research report send to the Dutch company and a certificate with the final grade.
- A recommendation from the Dutch professors of the University of Groningen.
