The Innovation department is looking for a trainee at the Netherlands Business Support Office

Working environment

The Netherlands Business Support Office in Bangalore is mainly aimed at promoting economic interests of the Netherlands. The office consists of colleagues from Trade Network, Holland Innovation Network, Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) and Netherlands Education Support Office (NESO). The main sectors that NBSO focuses on are High Tech Systems, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Agriculture, and Water. The trainee works under direct supervision of the Innovation Attaché at NBSO and Innovation Counsellor in Delhi. In addition, the trainee works closely with other colleagues from NBSO.

Internship description

The trainee is expected to have flexibility and improvisational talent. After the induction, he/she must be able to function independently, with minimal guidance. Preference is given to students in the master phase of their university degree. More than the subject of study, it is important that the person is interested in promoting economic and innovation interests of NL. But above all, we are looking for someone who takes responsibility and comes up with initiatives.

As a trainee, you will be closely involved in daily activities of the NBSO. We offer an internship with a varied package of responsibilities listed below:

  • Living Lab Project: Holland Innovation Network and NESO are working together to set up a Living Lab in Bangalore on the topic “Access to Affordable Health Care via eHealth”. Living Lab is an ecosystem that helps government, academia, and industry to co-create solutions for a societal challenge.
  1. Assist Innovation Attaché in Coordination of activities and events organized within the framework of Living Lab
  2. Help coordinate student activities (internships) under this framework
  3. Maintain and further develop the communication channels of Living Lab (Basecamp, social media etc)


  • Handling delegations/events:
  1. Assist in preparing programmes for various missions from the Netherlands or receiving Dutch/Indian visitors
  2. Assist in organization of seminars/workshops, events, and incoming/outgoing visits


  • Communication:
  1. Assist in preparing press messages, press releases for events/visits
  2. Help develop communication channels for NBSO especially visibility on social media


The period of the internship is March 2018 - July 2018 (Negotiable)

 Profile of the trainee

  • Preferably in the master phase of an academic study
  • Affinity with innovation related topics
  • Good organizational skills; able to provide support for all logistic matters for high-level delegations
  • Good command of English language; good communication skills both oral and written
  • An Indian national who is familiar with Bangalore and preferably the local language
  • Analytical skills
  • Awareness about the function of foreign office
  • Initiative, independence, and flexibility
  • Enthusiasm and commitment
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications with knowledge of basic design tools such as Piktochart, Photoshop, and MailChimp


What do we offer

The Netherlands Business Support Office in Bangalore offers a challenging, instructive and versatile internship, in which you can quickly expect independent responsibilities, get the opportunity to further develop yourself and build up a large network. It is a full-time appointment (40 hours per week) for a period of five months, starting from March 2018 (this can be further discussed at the time of interview). The innovation team works from three locations in India – New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. This internship offers an opportunity to work in an international environment and collaborate with diverse teams.
