Nuffic is the expertise and service centre for internationalisation in Dutch education, from primary and secondary education to higher professional and academic education and research. The role Nuffic play is that of intermediary between the higher education community of the Netherlands and the international community. For this purpose, Nuffic has foreign offices – Netherlands Education Support Offices (Neso) – in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea,Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. Being one of Nuffic’s eleven overseas offices, Nuffic Neso India is part of a worldwide network of Neso’s.

Nuffic-Neso India (Bangalore)

Nuffic-Neso India promotes Dutch higher education in India while at the same time giving Dutch education institutions insight into the Indian student market. They also provide support by facilitating institutional cooperation. In addition, Nuffic Neso India provides generic information on possible study programs and internship places for Dutch students and institutions in India. Moreover, Nuffic Neso India strengthens the ties of Indian alumni with the Netherlands, thereby creating a global community of ambassadors for the Netherlands. In addition to these activities, Nuffic Neso India develops tailor made services on the request of Dutch education institutions as well as business.

Nuffic Neso India’s core activities are:

  • Generic promotion of study and career in the Netherlands (both off-line and on-line)
  • Student counseling for Indian students
  • Alumni activities, with students who have returned to India
  • Market research
  • Support of incoming mobility to India
  • Develop tailor made activities on specific request of stakeholders

 

Job summary

For this position, we are looking for someone who can develop new services on behalf of Nuffic Neso India and bring the existing services a step further. The person should be able to scan the education field in the Netherlands and India and identify and initiate new activities that serve Dutch and Indian stakeholders. In addition, the person should develop activities in collaboration with the business to assure that the education sector and labour market closely connects. Moreover, (S)he should be able to “think out of the box” and collaborate with other Dutch governmental organizations such as the NBSO (Netherlands Business Support Office, IA (Innovation Attache), NFIA (Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency) to develop joint activities and brand the Netherlands in the South of India.Furthermore, the person will develop the alumni association further to assure that Nuffic Neso India can collaborate with Indian alumni in order to jointly initiate activities to assure that alumni remain connected with the Netherlands.

Tasks

  • Initiate, develop and execute new projects and services that cater to the Dutch and Indian education and business sector
  • Develop and shape the Indian alumni association and support them in becoming a pro-active platform that assures that alumni stay connected and in touch with the Dutch
  • Actively approach business to develop plans that link education to the labour market
  • Conduct research (reports, surveys, interviews etc.) on specific and higher education topics/themes
  • of relevance to the stakeholders. Contribute to the formulation of the annual plan and reporting the progress to the Director
  • Collaborate with the head office in The Hague to develop projects
  • Work closely with the Education Promotion Officers and develop/implement joint activities

 

 Job qualifications and requirements

  • Master’s degree in business management, marketing or related field (preferably obtained in the Netherlands)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience, ideally in an international organization or a business organization
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated experience in identifying and initiating new projects, both paid and non-paid
  • Creative and out of the box thinker and able to work independently
  • Strong communication skills and able to set up new projects with organizations that fall under the Netherlands Support Office
  • Strong networking skills and being able to use the network to realize organizational goals
  • English language skills (both in writing and in speaking) on a professional level
  • Available for travel

 

Position & salary

The Liaison officer/Alumni officer is a full time job positioned directly under the Director of Nuffic-Neso India and therefore reports directly to the Director. Exact salary will be determined based on experience and education background.
