Towards the end of my masters, I decided to look into the prospect of studying abroad. University of Maastricht, provided me a wonderful and resourceful opportunity for pursuing my doctoral studies.Though, in blissful and mesmerized state issues like accommodation, language, and cultural differences along with residing in a foreign country were some practical queries, which began to bother me. The university assisted magnificently in helping me overcome this.

From the moment I landed, my professor helped in getting me acquainted with the city and also made me feel welcomed by inviting me to his home for dinner. University enrolment, local municipality registration and residence permit issues were efficiently taken care of by the personal department of the faculty.

My expectations were rather high and I must say my department (Biochemistry) has been successful in satisfying me. The student to professor ratio here helped in better interaction and guidance. To keep us updated in new developments worldwide many seminars and key note lectures in diverse topics are conducted regularly. Everything together has provided an excellent environment for me to grow professionally, socially and personally.

The active student association offers a wonderful platform for interaction and networking. Plenty of seasonal offers and travel discounts provides a wide opportunity to travel within Netherlands and neighbouring countries. After living here for two years, this country and its hospitality has left an incredible impression on me.
